Streamlight ProTac® RAIL MOUNT 1L-X PRO - 850 Lumens - USB Rechargeable

Why we like these:

We always love a good Streamlight due to their Quality:Price ratio.  This new 1L-X Pro is no different.  We ordered one in for ourselves to test it out as soon as it hit the shelves and we are thoroughly impressed.

You're basically getting the performance of the older model ProTac HL-X in a smaller and lighter package, and running off of just one CR123.  (This model in particular comes with the USB-C rechargeable Streamlight SL-B9.) And with the rising price of the ProTac HL-X, this is a welcome replacement in our opinion.

The 30k Candela is enough to get some decent midrange throw, and the 850 lumens is perfect for lighting up the night without blinding yourself when operating in close quarters and bouncing light off of walls.

The quick TL;DR and what sticks out to us:

• 30k candela and 850 lumens (not far off from the 30k candela 1k lumens the ProTac HL-X had a few years ago)
• Almost identical in size to the SureFire 340DF Turbo, great for PDWs or saving rail space
• Jack Cap offers redundancy for pressure pad users.
• Almost 1/3rd of the price of the SureFire, with everything you need out of the box.

Our quick Pros/Cons:

Pros:

• Price to performance ratio
• included mounting hardware for both picatinny and m-lok
• Redundancy of Jack Cap allowing one tail cap for multiple configurations

Cons:

• She Thicc.  The Jack Cap in particular is... let's just say she's got an ass on her.
• As with all Streamlight lights, the pressure pad is a weak point and leaves a little to be desired.  But zip tie it down and it should be nice and secure.

While it takes either the rechargeable Streamlight SL-B9 or any CR123 battery, we did notice that the performance was slightly better with the SL-B9.  

Pro Tip:  If your light is near your muzzle device, wipe a small amount of CLP or chapstick over the lens of the light before heading to the range.  Then for cleanup simply wipe off the carbon.
