Why we like these:
Rocksett is an absolute necessity when installing timed muzzle devices, and especially MDs that will host a suppressor. It's an extremely strong adhesive, but can be removed by soaking it in water.
This is a 1oz bottle and is better suited for gunsmiths or those who might swap or install multiple muzzle devices a year. Otherwise, we recommend the single use 0.5ml packets.
**Be aware that Rocksett goes bad after roughly one year. Storing in a cold environment like a refrigerator may lengthen that slightly, but once it has gone bad it will no longer work properly! So yes, that packet you got with your Surefire may not be good anymore.
We date the 1oz bottles when they come in from Flexbar, and guarantee they are no older than 6 months. We also make sure our single use packets are no older than 10 months (since you will most likely be using the single use immediately.)
Official Description From Flexbar:
Rocksett is the #1 Adhesive for use on Threaded Gun Components Muzzle Brakes, and Recoil Suppressors.
- Heat resistant up to 2,000° fahrenheit
- Easily removable with hot water soak
- Room temp curing, no need to add heat
- No mixing or priming required
- Keeps assemblies from vibrating loose
- Ideal for muzzle brakes/recoil compensators and suppressors
To use Rocksett:
- shake bottle
- clean area to be bonded
- lightly apply adhesive to all areas
- apply moderate pressure and thread pieces together
To remove Rocksett from a threaded area, soak the area of application in water.
Rocksett comes with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. We recommend storing at room temperature with an airtight seal and using your Rocksett within one year of receipt for best results.
After some time you may see some settling within your bottle, if the settled particles recombine into the suspension when shaken it is okay to keep using. If it does not recombine it may be time for a new bottle.
Removing Rocksett:
You can do this a few ways.
- Soaking in water - this is the popular method and recommended by Flexbar
- Thermal shock - this involves heating with a torch and quenching in water, over and over until the thermal shock loosens the Rocksett and you can remove MD. A good method for the impatient cavemen out there.
- The 'Paper Towel' method - Check the Reddit link below. Basically the same principle as soaking in water, but a different method of doing it.
